A short video explaining some of the features you will find on a mixer shower.
Hi, in this video I am going to explain some of the features to look out for when you’re considering a mixer shower.
I’m sure at some point you’ve experienced a large drop or spike in the water temperature whilst showering.
This is because the mixer shower only has a manual temperature control, that means it will not maintain a stable showering temperature when the pressure or temperatures change in the incoming water supply.
So, for example, if someone turns on a cold tap elsewhere in the house, the cold-water pressure to the shower will drop.
This allows more hot water through the shower and results in a change in the water temperature through the showerhead.
A similar result will occur if the temperature of the hot water supply starts to reduce, such as when your hot water cylinder starts to run low of hot water. The mixer shower will not compensate for this so you’ll experience a colder shower.
However, to avoid this from happening you need to select a thermostatic mixer shower. These react to both pressure and temperature changes in the incoming water supplies to maintain a constant temperature through the showerhead.
Thermostatic showers also have a further safety feature to ensure that you and your family are completely safe while showering. This is referred to as automatic shutdown.
This means that if, for any reason, there is a total loss of either the hot or cold water supply, the mixer shower senses this and closes off the remaining supply to prevent a scalding hot or freezing cold shower.
Thermostatic mixer showers also come with a feature known as a maximum temperature stop. This is exactly as the name suggests, the mixer shower simply stops you from being able to turn the temperature up too high.
Some units have an adjustable maximum temperature stop which allows you, through the use of a button, to override the stop should you wish for a hotter shower.
And there you have it. That’s a brief rundown of the features you’ll find on a mixer shower.

In this video we test three of the most popular defensive cartridges in the .223 and 5.56 caliber. We took the Hornady TAP 55gr Urban, Hornady TAP 75gr BTHP, and the Black Hills Ammunition 50gr TSX rounds and paired them against each other to see which is the best.
This is the first video in a four part series that will determine the best overall round out of the three chosen. In this test we will be conducting a bare ballistic gelatin test using a synthetic gelatin from clearballistcs. We tested our ammo using the Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Rifle.
Black Hills Ammunition 50gr TSX 5.56x45mm Cartridge:
This round was developed by Black Hills Ammunition to solve some problems that our forces were seeing while on deployment. Standard 5.56x45mm ammo such as the XM193J and the M855 lack the overall performance that our troops were looking for. After striking small barriers, these rounds often lost any chance of keeping their original trajectory towards the target.
To fix this issue, Black Hills Ammunition created the 50gr TSX cartridge. This round utilizes a Barnes TSX, or Triple Shock X, bullet. This bullet is completely comprised of copper which allows it to have a longer design. This in turn makes the bullet more stable yielding in a higher ballistic coefficient.
The Black Hills Ammunition 50gr Barnes TSX 5.56x45mm cartridge is known as a “barrier blind” load. This means that the round is capable of penetrating small barriers while remaining in tact and stable. Once the bullet strikes a soft target, the tip of the round peels back. This results in an overall diameter increase of roughly 200%. The round stays completely in tact as it drags through the target. This ensures that even the toughest opponent will be taken down.
