Flint Water Crisis Q & A:
What’s in your box?
A. Filter Unit.
B. Filter Cartridge.
C. Adapters; you only need one.
D. Rubber Gaskets; they match up with the adapters.
Take off the tip of the faucet. Most sink faucets have a round tip at the end. Unscrew this piece. Take it off your faucet.
Some faucets don’t have a tip on the end. If your faucet has a spray handle, call United Way 2-1-1. Dial 2-1-1 or 8-6-6-5-6-1-2-5-0-0. Ask to have a plumber come to install your filter.
Put on the adapter. Try out the different adapters. Find the one that best fits your faucet. Put the rubber gasket on the adapter. Screw the adapter onto your faucet.
Unscrew the top of the filter unit.
Line up the arrows. Put the filter cartridge into the top of the filter unit. Line up the foot arrow on the filter cartridge with the PUR logo. Screw the top of the filter unit back on.
Finish putting the filter on. Put the filter unit on the adapter attached to your faucet. Push it back until you hear a click.
Using your filter. Look for the black lever on the side of the unit. When it is flat, you are not using your filter. To use your filter, make sure the lever is turned down. Use only cold water.
Flush it the first time only. The first time you use your filter, run cold water for five minutes. After that, your filter is ready to use as soon as you turn your filter on.
When t change your filter. A light will flash on the front of your filter six times every time you use it. Green: the filter is working. Yellow: the filter is working, but change it soon. Red: it’s time to change your filter.
